This, that, these ແລະ those ແມ່ນຄຳຊີ້ບອກ (demonstratives) ເພື່ອຊີ້ບອກຄົນ, ສັດ, ສິ່ງຂອງຕ່າງໆ ເຊິ່ງອາດຈະເປັນໃນຮູບຂອງຄຳນຳໜ້ານາມ (determiners) ຫລື ຄຳແທນນາມ (pronoun) ເຊັ່ນ:

Determiners	Pronouns
This house is beautiful.    That man is my teacher.    I would buy myself a pair of those shoes.	Come and look at this.     That is very kind of you.     This is a book.

As determiners ເປັນຄຳນຳໜ້ານາມ

     1) ໃຊ້ຊີ້ບອກສິ່ງຂອງ 

         I need this book.

         Could I have some of that juice, please?

         You can use one of these motobikes.

          Do you want those books?

      #   This / That ໃຊ້ກັບນາມຈຳນວນໜ້ອຍ. ສ່ວນ these / those ໃຊ້ກັບຄຳນາມຈຳນວນຫລາຍ

      2) ໃຊ້ຊີ້ບອກໄລຍະໃກ້ຫລືໄກ

           This table is dirty. (ຢູ່ໃກ້)

           That computer is mine. (ຢູ່ໄກ)

      3) ໃຊ້ຮ່ວມກັບວະຫລີເວລາ

           This arrived this morning.

           I am free this week.

         

As pronouns ເປັນຄຳແທນນາມ

      1) ກ່າວເຖິງສິ່ງຂອງຫລືຄວາມຄິດ

           This is a good idea.

           What color are those? Those are black and blue.

      2) ກ່າວເຖິງຄົນ

          John, this is my friend. 

          Is that your teacher?
